The South Liverpool Awards were established in 2004 to recognise and reward the contribution made by individuals to excellence in customer service in South Liverpool and to highlight its importance in today's business climate in the area.
Whilst the last 10 years have seen a tremendous growth in the customer service sector in South Liverpool with the expansion of Liverpool John Lennon Airport and the development of the New Mersey Shopping Park amongst others; there has also been a resurgence in the long-established local manufacturing sector with the transformation of the Jaguar Landrover plant and its associated supply park, investment from new large-scale employers such as Prinovis and continued investment in the pharmaceutical sector through Novartis, Eli Lilly & Co., Medimmune and the National Biomanufacturing Centre.
An area once referred to as 'the engine room of Merseyside' is now an area with diverse employment opportunities - an area where people want to live, work and play.
The annual South Liverpool Awards now offer an opportunity to recognise the contribution made to the regeneration of the area by employees, businesses and residents alike.
All nominees for an Award are entered into one of the Halls of Fame on the website so that everyone can recognise their important contribution. Each Spring the nominees from the Halls of Fame are shortlisted and the two finalists in each category are invited to an 'Oscars style' ceremony that is held at the Crown Plaza Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
A nomination for a South Liverpool Award tells outstanding individuals and companies that their performance and commitment to the area is truly recognised and valued by other businesses, employers and local residents. The Awards are the South Liverpool business and residential communities' way of celebrating success, recognising the area's contribution to Liverpool's Capital of Culture Celebrations.
The 2008 ceremony was held in June and you can see photos of the event by clicking here.
